Kansas City Home Care is the vision of founder and president, Cheryl Smith, who began her career locally as a certified Gerontologist. As a care manager for the elderly and the disabled, she was not impressed with the quality of home care being provided to her clients. She received complaints from families about consistency in staffing and the quality of care their loved ones were receiving. At that time, private duty home care was only available through a nurse registry, a Medicare agency or by hiring a private individual. Out of necessity to provide excellent service to her clients, Smith opened the doors of Kansas City Home Care and specializes in providing excellent home care services with a focus on quality, reliability and service.

Kansas City Home Care is a pioneer in the training, bonding, insuring and pre-screening of home care employees.

Cheryl Smith, MA, President

Cheryl A. Smith, President of Kansas City Home Care, Inc. is a Gerontologist who is a long-standing member of the National Association of Professional Care Managers (GCM) and a founding member and past President of the Midwest Chapter of the National Association of Professional Care Managers. She is a past board director of the National Private Duty Associa­tion (NPDA). Ms. Smith was selected to participate in the Helzberg Entrepre­neurial Mentoring Program and is a member of the Accomplished Women’s Roundtable sponsored by the Kansas Women’s Business Center. She was rec­ognized by the Kansas City Business Journal as one of the twenty-five area Women Who Mean Business in 2006. Ms. Smith is a past board member for SAFEHOME, a nonprofit organization that offers support for victims of domestic violence and currently serves on the board of directors for the Women’s Employment Network, a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing women with the skills and confidence to help them achieve economic independence for themselves and their families. She is a recipient of the 2008 Enterprising Women award and was recognized by KC Business Magazine as one of the 50 Most Influential Women for 2008.

Sandra Downing, RN

Sandra Downing has been a registered nurse since 1980. She has 20 years experience working in oncology and has spent the past 5 years working in home health.

Anne Briginshaw, RN

Anne Briginshaw has been a registered nurse for 40 years. She is an instructor for certified nursing assistants and has worked in both rural and urban settings.

Rates for our services are based on the type of services needed. A Gerontologist or licensed nurse is available to perform an assessment prior to the initiation of care.
